Engagement | Maggie & Rory (part 1)

Last weekend we ventured up to a little spot in rural North Carolina… somewhere between Laural Springs and Jefferson. Rory’s family is from the area so it’s a special spot to them, and made for a stunning backdrop for a winter engagement session 🙂 They brought along Jack, their incredibly well-behaved chocolate lab! I met the two of them back in the summer of 2003, when we all worked at a summer camp together…. so needless to say… this engagement has been a long time coming!

Goals | March 2012

Let’s just be honest…. my day job is kicking my booty! This should be a relatively slower time of year for me, but the last few weeks have been nuts, and unfortunately, the next 2 weeks will be just as crazy! Let’s look and see if I got *anything* accomplished on February’s to-do list…. 1. Order albums galore…. currently 8 need finishing and ordering… did a little work, still waiting on a few revisions, but one arrived and it’s GLORIOUS! 2. Do some serious filing, blah. hmmm didn’t happen 🙁 3. Finish editing 2 baby sessions & blog edited, and blogged one! (that counts for something, right?!?) 4. Photograph Maggie & Rory’s engagement DONE! 5. Deep clean my house (we’re having guests in 2 weeks!) Cleaned… now it’s messy again, humph 6. Enjoy some down time with hubby! a little! 7. Deliver boudoir albums….oohlala! oh yes… rawr! 8. Be more frugal…. we’re saving to start construction on our beach house Doing much better! on to March… 1. Continue working on album orders 2. Begin working for Iredell Living Magazine (today!) 3. Work on editing & blogging 4.  Blog some film we shot I’m keeping this list light, because the next 2 weeks will have me heavily tied up with traveling for work… I’ve already crisscrossed NC 3 times this week, and will do it about 5 more times over the next 14 days. It’s making me exhausted just thinking about it! Here are a few instagrams from February… notice the travel aspect has taken center stage, as has drinking lots of coffee!   Also….. here’s a little preview of Saturday’s engagement session with Maggie & Rory!

Business | FerShop

A few weeks ago I headed to Charleston at 6AM, nervous and excited. I was going to partake in the FerShop by Fer Juaristi, a photographer from Mexico. There were a handful of other photographers there, including a few I knew from flickr. We talked a lot about how and why Fer is “different” from other photographers, how he’s OK with scaring off couples that aren’t his kind of client, how he approaches photoshoots with a totally different eye than the rest of us AND (most importantly….) why harsh light isn’t so scary! Rob & Meg joined us for the day, serving as our models. They were spectacular! So in love, so easy going. (F5, Portra 400… the rest are digital)

Engagement | Heather & Graham

While Heather & Graham were home from Arkansas over Thanksgiving we were able to get together for their engagement photos! We loved getting to know them and trekking around uptown Charlotte with them 🙂   They’re huge Harry Potter fans… so of course we had to incorporate it!
