Bridal | Carrie

On one wet, gray March afternoon I met Carrie, her mom and sister at the Ballantyne Resort to capture her bridal portraits. While I hated we didn’t get to fully make use of the outside of the hotel due to the weather, we did get some fabulous shots of her in her J Majors, Jenny Yoo gown and her great-grandmothers lace veil. See all of Carrie’s bridals here! Carrie married Brendan this past Saturday at Pawley’s Island, South Carolina…. and the weather more than made up for a rainy bridal session! Wedding | Hair

I decided to share this on the heels of Kate. She’s a blogger I’ve religiously followed for a while (maybe 2ish years?) she is a former hair stylist (stopped when she had her son in December) but she still does hair tutorials on her site and reviews all kinds of hair, skin & makeup products. I have definitely bought and tried products because of her recommendation! Today she blogged about her thoughts on wedding hair & gave some great tips. I highly encourage y’all go read what she wrote as it makes oodles of sense. Her number 1 tip is to have a trial! I cannot echo this enough!! It will offer you the opportunity to play and perfect the hairstyle you want. Chances are you have never worn a veil, and this will let you know how it will fit in your hairstyle and how it can be attached (if you’ll be putting it in yourself). Many brides choose to do this on the same day as their bridal portrait, knocking out two tasks in one day!

Portrait | Beach

Hi All! Hope you’re tolerating the rain well today. At least it’s warm! ….dreading tomorrow. I know many people are already planning their summer vacations so if you’re headed near Pleasure Island this year, consider having a portrait session done! Pleasure Island (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Ft. Fisher) is easily accessible from Southport & Wilmington…. and even just an easy drive down from the Triangle area for the day. While I do not take weddings on holiday weekends, I will take the occasional portrait session! I’ve released a few dates that I know I will be available for sessions. These can be used for bridals, engagements, or family sessions. These sessions can be shot at sunrise or sunset, but honestly- I’d rather do them at sunrise. The beaches are empty and the temperatures are much cooler (and you avoid the common summer thunderstorm!). Kristin & Jonathan did theirs at sunrise last summer… it was breezy and perfect!
