February 24, 2015Portrait | Spring Mini Sessions!
March 5, 2015Fairly often I get asked about the gear I shoot with… a lot of times it’s at weddings by a wedding guest or sometimes it’s a person looking to get into photography. Now, I want to preface this post by saying this is what I shoot with… as a lifestyle wedding a portrait photographer. I do have some studio-esqe items that are not pictured, but not many… I’ve listed everything below!
I have accumulated a bunch of different items, bought things I saw others using because I “needed that to take perfect photos”…. I don’t discourage trying out different things to learn and work them into your workflow, but if you don’t use it, or don’t like the result… sell it! I’ve bought and sold tons of gear over the years… because those items were not the right fit for me.
Items not pictured: Nikon D700 & Nikkor 50mm 1.4 (shooting with them!), loads of memory cards, backdrop paper & tons of batteries!
The camera bags I carry depends on the event. For weddings I normally carry my Built NY camera bag (purple one above), and for portraits I carry my InCase sling backpack. Both are great, but when you’re on the go-go-go with weddings, I think the Built NY bag is easier. I wear it cross-body and leave it unzipped so I can easily switch lenses fast. It also has those handles so I can pick up and set down easily without anything falling out.
Things I plan to add this year: Nikon D750 and another Nikon 80DX.
