Personal: Saturday Morning

I love a weekend that involves little to no preplanned activity or work. Lazy weekends have become few and far between for us. When life was a little slower we used to love to go out for brunch, well like most people we’ve tried to be thriftier…. which means home brewed coffee and canned cinnamon roles….and I’m ok with that 🙂 Hope you had a wonderful Saturday!

Personal: Life & Puppies

Our lives have gotten a little crazy over the last few weeks. If you follow our personal blog, you know that we’ve been doing some major DIY house projects. When I purchased our home almost 2 years ago, the linoleum in the kitchen/dining/bathrooms and the carpet throughout the rest of the house was very livable, after all- it was all brand new! Well these two monsters we call Bender & Gus have taken a toll on the carpet… between the accidents/spills/dirty paws/ect. our lovely builder grade carpet has had it….. despite purchasing a steam cleaner right after we moved in and regularly using it! So… we first (I say “we” here, but lets be honest… it should say Jeremy & his dad) first ripped up the linolium in both our full bathrooms and installed new tile…. then a few weeks later they ripped up all the linolium and carpet downstairs and installed beautiful new engineered hardwoods!! We couldn’t be happier! In the coming weeks, he’ll rip up the rest of the carpet on the stairs and upstairs and put in the wood flooring there too. Not only have we done new flooring- but I’ve also repainted our dining room & living room 2 lovely shades of gray. Then we installed crown molding and chair rail in the dining room. ALLLLL this…. and we’re in the middle of negotiations on buying a piece of land at Carolina Beach…. it’s been stressful, but if it’s meant to be, it will all work out- if not, hopefully another piece of property will come along in our price range… keep your fingers crossed for us! I say all this to appologize for the slllllooooow blogging I’ve been doing… I’ve got at least 3 things that need to be blogged (4 after our shoot tonight) one of which is a WEDDING!!! YAY! So… stay tuned! On Sunday, while we were busy being lazy (for once in what seems like MONTHS!)…. taking naps, doing a little editing, and laying by the pool. I snapped a few photos of our doggies hanging out too… all taken in our kitchen with our new Sigma 50mm 1.4

Community: Troutman Grange Garden

A couple of weeks ago my boss asked if I’d come out to a garden at his church and take some photos for them. I made my way out there not really knowing what to expect. Through my job at the Grange, we offer a seed program, where you can pay a small fee to get oodles of seed packets! Well, Troutman Grange meets at a local church fellowship hall that has a garden behind the parsonage. In years past the garden was tended to by the preacher, every preacher they’ve had till now has maintained the garden. The church members decided that since the preacher didn’t want to tend to it, they would! They decided they would give all they grew to needy families in the area. Troutman Grange saw a wonderful opportunity to partner with the church on this project, and donate the seeds for all the veggies! Check out the tomato plants on the left and squash on the right! This was the first time I’d taken my new 50mm 1.4 out and about…. and WHOA…. check out the detail it captured on that squash plant!!!!
